Peosper Dodiko

Peosper Dodiko is the Chairperson of the Third General Meeting of Coffee Producing Countries (IACO) and the Minister of Agriculture for Burundi. He recently emphasized the need for Africa to enhance coffee production, value addition, and youth engagement in the sector, highlighting the continent's potential to create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth. During the meeting, he noted that Africa's contribution to global coffee production has drastically declined from 25% in the 1960s to only 11% today, which he argues negatively impacts livelihoods and employment for young people. Dodiko advocates for strategic investments in processing facilities and local consumption to improve the coffee industry's sustainability and profitability for farmers across Africa.
