Percy Rooke

Percy Rooke was a local builder known for his significant contribution to the Chatteris community by converting a former cinema into the Empress Swimming Pool in 1964. His vision provided a safe space for generations of local children to learn to swim, replacing the unsafe practice of swimming in drains and rivers. Rooke's legacy continues to impact the community, as efforts are currently underway to raise funds for the pool's repair and reopening.
