Perpetua

Saint Perpetua was a Christian martyr from Carthage, Tunisia, who lived in the early 3rd century. At the age of 22, she was arrested for her faith during the persecution of Christians under Roman Emperor Severus Settimus. Perpetua is revered particularly for her courage and maternal strength, as she was a young mother nursing her infant son at the time of her imprisonment. Her story, along with that of her slave Felicity, exemplifies faith in the face of persecution and has made her a patron saint of mothers and pregnant women.
