Petar I Njegoš

Petar I Njegoš (1813-1851) was a prominent Montenegrin prince-bishop known for his significant contributions to the cultural and political landscape of Montenegro. As a poet and a statesman, he is best remembered for his literary work 'Gorski vijenac' (The Mountain Wreath), which is considered a cornerstone of Montenegrin literature and a symbol of national identity. His leadership during a turbulent period helped lay the foundation for Montenegro's independence and strength in the Balkans.
