Peter Chamberlin

Peter Chamberlin was a landowner who, in 1964, initiated the release of kiwi onto Pōnui Island, which led to a thriving population of these birds. His vision for the preservation of kiwi has had a lasting impact, and his legacy continues through the efforts to return kiwi to other parts of New Zealand, including Waiheke Island.
