Peter Hughes is the General Secretary of the Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) in Ireland. He has been a prominent advocate for the rights and working conditions of psychiatric nurses, representing the interests of about 6,500 members. Recently, Hughes has been in the news as he announced that PNA members would begin a work-to-rule action due to a prolonged dispute concerning unsustainable staffing levels in mental health services, which he argues have negatively impacted service delivery and development.
