Peter Pearson was a pioneering Canadian filmmaker and cultural advocate, known for his distinctive voice in shaping Canadian cinema during the 1960s and 70s. He directed notable films such as 'Paperback Hero' and 'Best Damn Fiddler from Calabogie to Kaladar,' which highlighted the lives of marginalized characters and contributed to the national identity of Canadian film. A passionate supporter of Canadian content, Pearson served as head of the Canadian Film Development Corporation and later as executive director of Telefilm Canada. He passed away on April 2, 2023, at the age of 87, remembered as a natural disruptor and a champion for the film industry.
