Phan Thanh Hùng

Phan Thanh Hùng was a revered Vietnamese football coach and former player, known for his significant contributions to the development of football in Vietnam. Born in 1960 in Da Nang, he enjoyed a successful playing career, culminating in a national championship in 1992. As a coach, Hùng was instrumental in implementing a philosophy of ball control inspired by global trends, particularly the tiki-taka style of play popularized by Barcelona. He led teams such as Hà Nội T&T to multiple V-League titles and was recognized for his ability to nurture young talent. Hùng's coaching style emphasized empathy, understanding, and personal connection with players, earning him the affectionate nickname 'Mr. One More' for his jovial personality. He passed away on August 11, 2023, leaving behind a legacy as a mentor and tactician who shaped modern Vietnamese football.
