Phanice Ambeva

Phanice Ambeva is a local worker from the village of Gimwenge in Vihiga County, who survives by manually crushing stones into gravel and ballast. Despite the tough and labor-intensive nature of her work, which provides a meager income, she represents the resilience of many residents who rely on the rocky terrain for their livelihood. Ambeva, like her fellow villagers, had hoped that the stalled granite factory project would alleviate their economic struggles and provide them with better opportunities.
