Pierre Alessandri was a 55-year-old farmer and a prominent member of the Via Campagnola union, part of the Confédération paysanne, who was tragically shot and killed on March 17, 2024, near his essential oils production facility in Corsica. He had a long history of union activism, having served as the secretary general for Corsica-South. Alessandri was known for his integrity and commitment to agricultural rights, and he had previously faced violence related to his union activities, including a criminal fire that destroyed his distillery in 2019.
