Pierre Audi

Pierre Audi was a renowned Franco-Lebanese theater director and artistic leader, known for his innovative contributions to the world of opera and performing arts. Born in Beirut, Audi gained prominence in the 1980s with the establishment of the Almeida Theatre in London, where he challenged traditional theater norms. He served as the artistic director of the Dutch National Opera for nearly thirty years, creating numerous acclaimed productions with prominent visual artists. Most recently, he became the director of the Aix-en-Provence Festival, one of the leading international opera festivals, where he was celebrated for his commitment to artistic renewal and collaboration. Audi's sudden passing at the age of 67 in Beijing on May 3rd, 2023, was mourned by the artistic community, highlighting his significant impact on the landscape of opera and theater.
