Plinius, also known as Pliny the Elder, was a Roman author, naturalist, and naval commander who lived during the 1st century AD. He is best known for his encyclopedic work, 'Natural History', which covers various subjects such as astronomy, geography, and the natural sciences. Plinius died during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 while attempting to rescue friends from the disaster.
