Plinius der Ältere

Pliny the Elder was a Roman author, naturalist, and naval commander known for his encyclopedic work, 'Natural History.' He was a keen observer of the natural world and often criticized the exploitation of resources and the greed of Roman society. Pliny died in AD 79 during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius while attempting to rescue friends, leaving behind a legacy of inquiry and caution regarding humanity's relationship with nature.
