Pope Innocent IV

Pope Innocent IV, born Sinibaldo Fieschi in 1195, served as pope from 1243 to 1254 and is notable for his role in the consolidation of the Augustinian Order. He issued a papal bull calling for the unification of hermit communities under the guidance of Saint Augustine, which led to the official establishment of the Order of Saint Augustine. His papacy also included significant political and diplomatic efforts, including dealings with the Mongol Empire and the promotion of papal authority in Europe.
