Pope Sylvester I

Pope Sylvester I served as pope from 314 to 335 AD and is often associated with the early establishment of the Christian Church in the Roman Empire. He is traditionally credited with the construction of the original St. Peter's Basilica and with the conversion of Emperor Constantine, which significantly influenced the relationship between the Church and the state.
