Portia White

Portia White was a renowned Canadian operatic soprano, celebrated for her powerful voice and pioneering role as a Black artist in classical music. Born in Nova Scotia in 1911, she gained international acclaim and was the first Black woman to perform at major opera houses, breaking racial barriers in the arts.
