Prem Thakur, the owner of the Galle Marvels franchise in the Lanka T10 League, was recently sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in match-fixing. In addition to his prison term, he was fined 6 million rupees and suspended from cricket for ten years. Thakur was accused of attempting to persuade West Indian cricketer Andre Fletcher to engage in match-fixing during the Lanka Premier League. The Kandy High Court in Sri Lanka has also mandated that Thakur assist ongoing investigations by providing his mobile data to the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit, highlighting the serious implications of corruption in sports.
