Prudencia Ayala was a pioneering Salvadoran women's rights advocate and political activist, born on April 28, 1885, in Sonzacate, Sonsonate. She is famously known for her brave attempt to run for the presidency in 1930, during a time when women in El Salvador were denied the right to vote. Ayala was a prolific writer, publishing several books and founding the newspaper 'Redención Femenina' to promote female participation in politics. She passed away on April 11, 1936, in San Salvador, leaving a significant legacy in the fight for women's rights in her country.
