Rafael Cara Quintero
Rafael Cara Quintero is a notorious Mexican drug lord and co-founder of the now-defunct Guadalajara Cartel, known for his involvement in the trafficking of marijuana and cocaine during the 1980s and 1990s. He gained international notoriety for the kidnapping and murder of DEA agent Enrique 'Kiki' Camarena in 1985, which significantly escalated U.S.-Mexico drug enforcement efforts. Quintero was arrested in 1985 but was released in 2013 due to a legal technicality, only to be recaptured in 2022. He recently made headlines as the U.S. Department of Justice decided not to seek the death penalty against him, alongside fellow drug lord Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, who confessed to various criminal charges.
