Ramsés Vargas Lamadrid

Ramsés Vargas Lamadrid is a controversial figure in Colombian higher education, previously serving as the rector of the Universidad Autónoma del Caribe. His tenure was marred by allegations of embezzlement involving 16 billion pesos, which led to his arrest in 2018. After spending nearly a year in prison, he was released due to procedural issues. Recently, he made headlines when he announced his candidacy for the rector position at the Universidad de Sucre for the 2025-2028 term.
