Ras Paul is a west London DJ of Jamaican descent who became a Rastafarian in 1992, inspired by the centenary of Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie's birth. In 1999, he moved to Shashamene, Ethiopia, where he built a home and became part of a vibrant Rastafarian community. Paul has been vocal about the challenges faced by Rastafarians in Ethiopia, including strained relations with local communities and ongoing legal battles over land rights.
