Rashidul Islam

Rashidul Islam is a farmer from Chirirbandar, Dinajpur, who has gained attention for his successful maize cultivation. He has cultivated maize on three bighas of land, reporting a significant profit margin compared to traditional rice farming. With an investment of approximately 30,000 to 35,000 taka per bigha, he harvested between 65 to 75 monds of maize, selling it at 870 taka per mond. This approach has allowed him to earn 60,000 to 65,000 taka per bigha, which is significantly higher than the income he would have received from rice. His success story reflects a growing trend among local farmers to shift from rice to maize cultivation due to its higher profitability and lower maintenance requirements.
