Ratbek Nysainbayuly
Ratbek Nysainbayuly (born November 7, 1940) was a prominent Kazakh religious leader who served as the supreme mufti of Kazakhstan from 1990 to 2000. He played a crucial role in the revival of Islam in post-Soviet Kazakhstan, navigating the complexities of religious resurgence amid a secular state. He was instrumental in the transition of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan (DUMK) and contributed to the establishment of religious stability in the country. Nysainbayuly was also a co-author of the Kazakh translation of the Quran and authored several books on Islam. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Order of Parasat in 2020, coinciding with his 80th birthday.
