Raychelle Omamo
Raychelle Omamo is a prominent Kenyan lawyer and former chairperson of the Law Society of Kenya. She gained national attention in October 2002 when she led the first nationwide boycott of courts by advocates, known as the 'Yellow Ribbon campaign,' protesting against judicial corruption and the Judiciary's attempts to prevent the vetting of judges. This movement reflected widespread dissatisfaction with the Judiciary's past role in undermining human rights during Kenya's tumultuous 80s and 90s. Omamo's leadership during this critical period contributed to significant judicial reforms following the adoption of the 2010 constitution. Eventually, she transitioned into politics and served as a Cabinet Minister in the Jubilee government, showcasing her influential role in Kenya's evolving legal and political landscape.
