Raymond Donovan

Raymond Donovan, a 44-year-old man from Cooraclare, Co Clare, was convicted of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Ann Walsh in 2006. He strangled Walsh on church grounds in 2005 and was sentenced to mandatory life imprisonment. Recently, he was in the news for attempting to challenge the legality of his detention, claiming that a previous court ruling had substituted his life sentence for a 20-year term, a claim that was dismissed by the High Court as having 'simply no basis.'
