Renata Schoeman

Professor Renata Schoeman is a prominent psychiatrist based in Cape Town, South Africa, recognized for her expertise in the management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She is the co-author of South Africa's ADHD management guidelines and chairs the South African Society of Psychiatrists' special interest group for ADHD. In addition to her clinical work, Schoeman is involved in academic leadership as she heads the healthcare leadership MBA specialization stream at Stellenbosch University. Recently, she has been in the news advocating for the rescheduling of methylphenidate, an essential ADHD medication, to improve access for patients and address the challenges posed by current healthcare policies.
