Rian Bahran

Rian Bahran is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Reactors at the U.S. Department of Energy. In this role, he has been a key advocate for the development and deployment of advanced nuclear technologies, including small modular reactors (SMRs), which are seen as a critical component in the effort to provide abundant, clean energy. Under the Trump administration, he emphasized the importance of accelerating the licensing process for these new reactors to enhance America’s energy independence and competitiveness in the nuclear sector.
