Ricardo Beteta

Ricardo Beteta is the president of the Asociación Hombres y Mujeres Nuevos de Panamá (Ahmnp) and a prominent advocate for the rights of individuals living with HIV in Panama. He has been vocal about the challenges faced by vulnerable populations, particularly in light of the recent reactivation of the Comisión Nacional para la Prevención y Control del VIH (Conavih), which had been inactive for several years. Beteta has emphasized that while the reactivation is a positive step, it is insufficient to address the structural problems related to HIV care in the country, including the lack of effective government measures and the ongoing stigma faced by key populations such as the LGBTQ+ community, sex workers, and migrants.
