Richard Coggins

Richard Coggins is a developer known for his involvement in the Waterways estate project on the outskirts of Castlebar, Co Mayo, which has become emblematic of the housing crisis in Ireland. Initially granted planning permission in 2006 for a 65-dwelling complex, the project faced numerous financial and regulatory challenges, leading to its current state as a ghost estate with only a fraction of the proposed homes completed. Following the dissolution of his company, Coggins has expressed intentions to resolve the issues surrounding the Waterways estate while simultaneously pursuing new development opportunities under a different business entity.
