Richard Gerald Jordan is a 78-year-old inmate who has been on death row in Mississippi since 1976, making him the longest-serving death row prisoner in the state's history. He was sentenced to death for the kidnapping and murder of Edwina Marter, a crime he committed in January 1976. After exhausting all state and federal appeals, the Mississippi Supreme Court has scheduled his execution for June 25, 2023.
