Richard Pockrich

Richard Pockrich was an eccentric Irish inventor born in the late 1600s in Co Monaghan. Known for his hare-brained schemes, he dedicated his life to ambitious but often impractical ideas, such as creating wings for humans and transforming Ireland into a major wine-producing region. Despite his many failures, Pockrich did achieve some success with the idiophone, or angelic organ, which he popularized, performing across Ireland and the UK. His legacy is marked by his whimsical dreams and the peculiar nature of his inventions.
