He served as the artistic director of the Vakhtangov Theater in Moscow for 15 years, where he gained acclaim for his interpretations of classic works, including 'King Oedipus'. Tuminas's career was marred by controversy, particularly following a prank that led to accusations of disloyalty, resulting in his being labeled a 'traitor' by some authorities. He passed away in 2024.
