Rita Panizzon is known for being the namesake of Ritalin, a widely used medication for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The name was inspired by her exceptional performance in tennis after her husband, Leandro Panizzon, developed the drug Methylphenidate while working at the Swiss pharmaceutical company Ciba in the 1950s.
