Robaxon Anvarovna Mahmudova has recently been appointed as the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, following her election by the Senate on June 18, 2023. At 67 years old, she has been a prominent figure in the Uzbek legal system, previously serving as the First Deputy Chair of the Supreme Court and leading the administrative judicial panel since July 2020. In addition to her judicial roles, Mahmudova has been the leader of the Adolat Social Democratic Party since January 2024, where she actively participated in the presidential elections in 2023, securing the second position with 4.43% of the votes. A graduate of the Tashkent State University Faculty of Law, she has held various significant positions, including the chairperson of the Criminal Court in Fergana Region and head of the Presidential Reception Office in the region. Her recent appointment comes at a time when the Uzbek government is focusing on combating corruption within the judiciary.
