Roberto Clemente
Roberto Clemente was a Hall of Fame baseball player and humanitarian, best known for his 18-season career with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1955 to 1972. A 15-time All-Star and 12-time Gold Glove winner, Clemente was celebrated not only for his exceptional skills on the field but also for his philanthropic efforts off it. Tragically, he died in a plane crash while delivering aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua on New Year's Eve in 1972, a loss that resonated deeply within the baseball community and beyond.
