Rok Gašparič

Dr. Rok Gašparič is a Slovenian paleontologist recognized for his extensive research on fossils, particularly in the field of decapod crustaceans. He was awarded the prestigious Mary Anning Medal in 2025 for his significant contributions to paleontology outside traditional academic settings, making him the first Slovenian recipient of this honor. In addition to his academic work, Gašparič is the General Director of Nikon Europe BV for Eastern Europe and co-founder of the private Institute for Paleobiology and Evolution. His notable achievements include the description of numerous new fossil species and his efforts to popularize paleontology within the scientific community and the public.
