Roman Opałka

Roman Opałka was a Polish-French artist celebrated for his innovative approach to the representation of time through his monumental project '1965/1-∞'. Beginning in 1965, Opałka painted consecutive numbers on canvas, starting from one and aiming for infinity, while recording himself reciting each number. His work reflects a deep philosophical exploration of time and existence, merging art and life in a unique manner. Opałka's dedication to this project continued until his death in 2011, making him a significant figure in the realm of conceptual art.
