
Roman Zamriy
Roman Zamriy, also known by his call sign 'Yoda', is a former combat medic and a dedicated volunteer who has saved at least 700 Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines since the beginning of the conflict with Russia in 2014. He has served in numerous hotspots, including Kherson and Bakhmut, and held the position of chief medical officer during his deployment. After returning from the front lines in July 2023, he transitioned to family medicine while also raising three children as a single parent. Zamriy was awarded the Order of Merit of the III degree by the President of Ukraine on January 22, 2024, in recognition of his significant contributions to the medical field and his service to the country. Recently, he was in the news for claiming that he was illegally detained for three days by representatives of the military enlistment office, despite having the right to a deferment.
