Romica Puceanu

Romica Puceanu, born on January 19, 1927, in Bucharest, Romania, was a celebrated singer known as the 'Queen of Lăutărească Music.' Coming from a family of musicians, she began her career at the young age of 14 and quickly rose to prominence in the 1960s and 1970s. Her powerful voice and emotive performances captivated audiences both in Romania and abroad, with popular songs such as 'Şaraiman' and 'Florăresele' becoming timeless classics. Puceanu's contributions to Romanian music have left a lasting legacy, and she remains an iconic figure in the genre. Tragically, her life ended in a car accident on October 24, 1996.
