Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez was a celebrated Panamanian footballer, known for his remarkable talent as a forward. He played for several clubs in Spain, including Tenerife, Valencia, and Albacete, and was also a key player for the Panama national team. Tragically, his life was cut short in a car accident in Spain 32 years ago, but his legacy endures as he is remembered for his aerial prowess and sportsmanship. He was the first player to win the EFE Trophy, awarded to the best Ibero-American footballer, and continues to be honored in Panama, especially on the Día del Futbolista, a day dedicated to celebrating his contributions to the sport.
