Rosetta Dello Siesto, born in Milan, was the beloved wife of renowned Italian author Andrea Camilleri, known for creating the iconic character Inspector Montalbano. Their marriage, which lasted over sixty years, began in 1957 after they met during Camilleri's theater debut in 1953 when Dello Siesto was his assistant director. Throughout their life together, she was a pivotal influence on his writing, with Camilleri often stating that there was no work of his that she hadn't read first. Beyond her role as a supportive partner, she was also a well-educated individual, having obtained a degree in philosophy with a thesis on Pico della Mirandola. Dello Siesto passed away at the age of 97 on May 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with her husband's literary achievements and a close-knit family, including three daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
