Roy Hicks
Roy Hicks, a 73-year-old former chairperson of the board of management at St George’s National School in Balbriggan, Co Dublin, was recently sentenced for stealing over €90,000 from the school during his tenure. Originally from Wales, Hicks, who ran an accountancy firm, misappropriated funds through unauthorized cheques to support his struggling business. Despite his previous good standing and contributions to the school, his actions resulted in a significant breach of trust. Given his health issues, including a stroke, the court suspended his sentence while recognizing his remorse and lack of prior convictions.
