He studied German literature and history before embarking on a diverse journalistic career, ultimately becoming the local chief at the Abendzeitung in 1988. Schröck was celebrated for his sharp wit and insightful analyses, often expressing his observations with a dry sense of humor. Beyond journalism, he authored several books, including a notable work on Charles Lindbergh that revealed the aviator's secret families. After leaving Abendzeitung in 2003, he transitioned into academia and consultancy. Schröck passed away in his hometown after a long illness.
