Rudy López Pablo

Rudy López Pablo is a Guatemalan individual who gained attention in October 2021 when he was arrested during a protest against 'Día de la Hispanidad' for allegedly decapitating a statue of former president José María Reyna Barrios. He faced charges of cultural property depredation, with the Public Ministry seeking a nine-year prison sentence and a Q250,000 fine. However, he was ultimately acquitted by the Seventh Criminal Court, which found that the prosecution did not provide sufficient evidence to prove that the sculpture qualified as cultural heritage.
