Ruprecht von der Pfalz, also known as Prince Rupert of the Rhine, was a prominent military leader and royal figure of the 17th century. Born in Prague in 1619 to the Wittelsbach family, he was related to Queen Mary Stuart of Scotland. A notable participant in the Thirty Years' War, he fought valiantly against Habsburg forces from a young age. Later, during the English Civil War, he became a key commander for the Royalists, opposing Oliver Cromwell. His adventurous life took him from Europe to the Americas, where he served as a governor and was instrumental in the development of the Hudson Bay area, which was even named in his honor for a time. His legacy is that of a skilled tactician and a figure of notable historical significance.
