Rusha Delcheva
Rusha Delcheva, born in 1868 in Kukush, was renowned as the sister of the revolutionary leader Goce Delchev and is considered one of the first women to join the Macedonian Revolutionary Organization in 1895. She played a vital role in the liberation struggles of Macedonia, serving as a courier, hiding weapons, and even fighting alongside her sons during the Balkan Wars. Disillusioned by the division of Macedonia and internal conflicts within the organization, she became a vocal critic of the establishment. After marrying Andon Chopov, she continued her revolutionary activities, helping young communists during oppressive regimes. Rusha passed away on June 9, 1944, leaving behind a legacy of courage and resilience in the fight for Macedonia's freedom.
