Ruta Koše (1916–1998), born Rute Meierovica, was the daughter of Zigfrīds Anna Meierovics, Latvia's first foreign minister. She is known for her resilience during her forced deportation to Siberia in 1941, where she endured harsh conditions and the loss of many fellow deportees. After returning to Latvia in 1956, she reflected on the trauma faced by those who survived the harsh realities of Siberian exile, highlighting the enduring pain and the challenges of reintegration into society.
