S.P. Chaminda
S.P. Chaminda is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Gem and Jewelry Authority in Sri Lanka. Recently, he has been in the news for highlighting the revival of the country’s gem cutting industry, which had previously declined due to high taxes and fees on rough gem imports. His remarks came during a media briefing regarding the upcoming 'Gem City Ratnapura 2026' international gem and jewelry exhibition, where he noted that recent government decisions, including the removal of a $200 fee per parcel of rough gems, have begun to restore the industry to its former prominence.
