Sa Shijun
Sa Shijun, also known as Sa Benjun, was a prominent naval officer born in 1895 in Fujian Province, China. As a member of a distinguished naval family, he dedicated his life to serving in the Chinese Navy, where he rose through the ranks to become the captain of the Zhongshan warship. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, he fought valiantly during the Battle of Wuhan in 1938, where he was severely injured but chose to stay with his ship and fight until its sinking. His heroic actions and ultimate sacrifice made him one of the highest-ranking naval officers to die in the war, symbolizing the courage and patriotism of the Chinese Navy during a time of national crisis.
