Sabino Romero

Sabino Romero was a prominent Yukpa indigenous leader in Venezuela who tirelessly fought for the rights and ancestral lands of his people in the Sierra de Perijá. His activism placed him in direct conflict with local landowners and extractive industries, ultimately leading to his assassination on March 5, 2013, a crime that remains largely unpunished and symbolizes the ongoing struggles faced by indigenous communities in the country.
